In the heart of wild Sardinia, set off on an adventurous ebike excursion in the Supramonte of Urzulei that will take you to the heart of the limestone massif.
Together with an experienced guide you will unravel through dense forests and breathtaking scenery on a route through an area of considerable environmental and scenic importance where grazing animals such as cows, goats, sheep and pigs are easily encountered. Your route will not only be on wheels: there will be a short walk in which you will reach the enchanting Pischina Urthaddala Pond. To recover your energy for the return journey, you will make a stop at an ancient sheepfold where you will taste zero-kilometer products such as cold cuts and cheeses and excellent Cannonau wine from local producers, guaranteeing a short and traceable supply chain.
You will spend a half-day dedicated to wellness and sustainability in the unspoiled nature of Supramonte and the authentic flavors of our land.
The route begins in Ghenna 'e Ruge, along the SS 125 in what we might call the southern gateway to the Supramonte.
Once we cross the limestone plateau of Campu Oddeu, the largest in Sardinia, and several canyons, along the scenic dirt road and important forests we will arrive at Urthaddala, where a thousand-year-old Yew Tree proclaimed a natural monument will be waiting for us, and only a few meters away an immersion in the archaeological history of Sardinia in the presence of a remarkable Tomb of Giants.
Here we will leave the bikes for a short, but intense, trail that allows an overlook at Sa Giuntura and the upstream entrance to the Gorropu canyon, until we reach the karst lake of Pischina Urthaddala.
Before returning, there will be an aperitif near an old juniper sheepfold, where until a few decades the shepherd lived there with his flock of goats, and it will also be an opportunity to learn about many aspects of the present and the past that have characterized this area, tasting excellent and sought-after cheeses, cold cuts and some Cannonau wine.
