From Dorgali: walk with donkeys, Sardinia

Starting from Dorgali, in central-eastern Sardinia, a unique experience awaits you together with some unusual friends: cute donkeys! A breathtaking route in the territory of Suttaterra, in the shade of centuries-old holm oaks, for an excursion suitable for everyone: a special trekking with donkey friends who, in addition to keeping company along the way, will bring your luggage. The donkeys will be able to get the kids on the saddle and in fact this is a perfect experience for families. You will be immersed in the silence and the wildest nature, enjoying in particular the spectacle of the landscape, with an expert guide who will tell you many anecdotes related to the territory. On the way back, stop in an old sheepfold to enjoy a delicious lunch of local products.

The experience is about 6 km and takes place in the area of Suttaterra, in the Supramonte dorgalese, between secular oaks and breathtaking views. The route is mostly in the shade so it is pleasant in all seasons.

PROGRAM

After the presentations to the meeting place with the guide, a transfer of about half an hour will be made to reach the beginning of the path on foot
You will visit a well hidden cave among the rocks and vegetation until you get to Punta su Nuraghe, on top of a panoramic point from which to enjoy a fabulous view of the Gulf of Orosei. We recommend bringing a torch to illuminate the cave and enjoy its spectacle
On the way back, you will stop in a cuile (ancient sheepfold) where you will taste a delicious lunch based on typical products

Lunch in the old sheepfold includes products at km 0 and handmade, such as casadine, sausage, cheese, ricotta with honey, vegetables, wine and water according to availability of the season.

Passeggiata tranquilla fatta a Pasqua, temperatura ottima, guida preparata e paziente con i bambini. Animali sereni e calmi. Abbiamo visto una grotta, un Nuraghe posizionato su un’altezza con vista spettacolare e conosciuto un pastore nel cuile molto ospitale. Seconda esperienza su Escursi, entrambe molto positive!

We first booked this excursion because our daughter loves donkeys but us adults loved it just as much as the 2 children. Our day started at 9:00 when were greeted with a coffee & biscuits by our guide Giovanni at his farm. From there, we were driven to the start of the trek where we ascended through the trees into the rocky Sardinian mountains. We stopped on the way to explore a cave, ancient ruins, the view over the Suppramonte before descending to a Cuile where were served sardinian apetizers.
