3-day coastal trekking in the Gulf of Orosei with donkeys
Description
Set off from Dorgali on the east coast of Sardinia for an evocative three-day coastal trek that will take you to Baunei, amidst the breathtaking views and dreamlike sea of the Gulf of Orosei, where you will also walk along some of the paths of the famous Selvaggio Blu (Wild Blue).
On the first day, after meeting your guide and donkey friends, you will set off with them on an ancient mule track to Suttaterra, at an altitude of 800 metres. Here, a spectacular panoramic view and a typical dinner with local, zero-kilometre products await you. You will sleep in a pinnettu, the traditional shepherds' hut, enveloped in the silence of the mountains.
The second day will take you to Cala Luna, one of the most beautiful beaches in Sardinia. You will walk a path of about 8 km through woods and codule, descending gently towards the sea. Once you arrive, you will take a refreshing dip in the crystal-clear waters. You will have a delicious packed lunch prepared with seasonal products, and end the day with a dinner of fresh fish on the beach. You will sleep in a tent under the starry sky, lulled by the sound of the waves.
On the third day, you will take to the mountains again. You will again cross forests and valleys, covering about 5 km to a cuile, where a typical lunch awaits you. After savouring the authentic flavours of tradition, you will return to your starting point, taking with you indelible memories of this adventure.
This trek is much more than a journey: it is an immersion in the most authentic Sardinia. Are you ready to go?

PROGRAM
- Day one: morning departure from Dorgali with the guide and donkey friends who will carry the luggage
- Route along an ancient mule track, about 300 metres in height difference for a total of about 4 km.
- Afternoon: arrival at Suttaterra, about 800 metres above sea level with a breathtaking panoramic view.
- Dinner: in the old shepherds' cuile with products from the local 0-km farm and then overnight at the pinnettu with sleeping bags.
- Day two: departure for Cala Luna. An approximately 8-km-long walk through woods, valleys and codule on a path through the woods in the Gulf of Orosei up to an altitude of 500 metres. The path is easy as it descends from the mountain to the Cala Luna beach where we will bathe at the end of the route.
- Lunch: packed lunch provided by the guides based on local seasonal products
- Dinner: based on fresh fish at the Cala Luna beach restaurant; then night on the beach with tents
- Day three: departure for the mountains. Route through forests, valleys and codule on a path through the woods in the Gulf of Orosei to an altitude of 500 for about 5 km.
- Lunch in a cuile, the typical hut of mountain shepherds
- Afternoon: arrival at starting point
The route is suitable for those in good physical shape and with a propensity for outdoor adventure. It will be a challenging and varied trek, different from usual, with donkey friends to keep you company and carry your luggage, a trek immersed in Sardinian nature and culture. Immersed in the silence and wilderness of the Gulf of Orosei for most of the time, both in the woods and on the beaches.
The route may vary depending on weather conditions, such as during the hottest months like July and August when the heat may indicate which route to take.
EXTRA
On request there is the possibility of extending the trek with a fourth day to visit Cala Sisine as well; the additional cost for an extra day starts from € 160 (varies depending on the number of participants).
